Ebb and Flow #8 nearing completion

Here are a few studio shots as I get near the end of this large piece.  The drawing is 80″ x 75″ and will be included in my spring 2012 solo show at the Missoula Art Museum.  Below ”Ebb and Flow #8″ is a smaller ink and gouache drawing of a similar composition and subject also in progress.  And to the right are smaller ink drawings done while traveling in Turkey.

Here are a few images of current work and work in progress.  These are clearer and more detailed than previous posts thanks to the photography skills of Wes Magyar and WM Artist Services in Denver.  I will post more images taken by Wes of my current work soon.

A detail shot of “Ebb and Flow #8″…still in progress…  Click on the image to see it in higher resolution.

And here is an image of “Ebb and Flow #4″.  Again – click on the image to see the drawing in higher resolution.

Reception and Talk for Columbia College Show

Here are a few images from the Master Artist Series in  the Larson Gallery at Columbia College in Columbia, MO.  Randy Arnold (islandhomestudio.com) and I were invited back by the art faculty and Alumni association to have a two person exhibition, give artist talks, and attend a few alumni events.  It was a great weekend – and good to catch up with my undergraduate professors.  Also my friends, John Martinek (johnmartinek.com) and Greta Songe (gretasonge.com) came down for the weekend from Iowa City.  They have begun to create their own connections to Columbia through the Citizen Jane Film Festival (citizenjanefilmfestival.org) and the work they do with the Tiny Circus animation project (tinycircus.org)

Travel Drawings of Turkey by Trici Venola

Just wanted to introduce to you an artist I recently learned about – Trici Venola.  She is (as she states on her website) “a Los Angeles digital painter transplanted to Turkey, where she is creating the Drawing on Istanbul™ Project, an ongoing visual documentation augmented by short stories, of Turkish culture, people and history.”

She is the author of Drawing on Istanbul – a book of sketches available from Amazon and other retailers.  She is also the illustrator for A Handbook for Living in Turkey
